Following the demise of Donington-based Norton Motorcycles, a handful of buyers have come forward to express an interest in snapping up the brand. TVS Motor is one of them.

According to Bloomberg, there have been numerous purchase requests – but only eight will be able to move onto the next phase of the buyout. No news yet on the full range of interested parties, but Indian giant TVS Motor is widely rumoured to be in the running.
For the uninitiated, TVS is the third largest motorcycle company in India (after Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj). It has also been working in partnership with BMW, developing and producing the 310 platform for the German factory.
If TVS manages to acquire the iconic British brand, we’re expecting a new line-up of premium motorcycles for the Indian brand. Of course, they’ll have to differentiate from Zongshen’s Norton-based machines – following the Asian giant taking the rights to the 650cc engine. Interestingly, Zongshen is also rumoured to be interested in getting its hands on the Norton brand.
