I’d been looking for a new set of earphones to listen to music on my iPod / iPhone whilst on my motorbike as the standard earphones from Apple just don’t stay put in my ears, when I came across these little beauties from Decibullz, based in the USA.
They are easily and quickly moulded to the exact shape of your ears, creating the perfect fitting earphone that shouldn’t fall out or hurt. And you can re-mold them again and again until you get the right fit.
The Decibullz Contour Earphone kit includes the molds, earphones with tangle-free cables, interchangeable S, M & L sized ear tips, in-line remote and mic for use with your smart-phone and a small carry case to keep them in when not in use.
RRP is $59 (£35) plus shipping (about $12 or £7) to the UK. You can even just buy the custom molds at $19.99 (£12) and fix them to your own earphones but I wanted to try the complete kit. Compared to other custom fit moulded earphones I think these are a real bargain and such a clever idea. And they sound great too!
I may even buy another set of the custom molds to try with my apple earphones now.
How to fit
Simply heat the thermoplastic molds in a cup of boiling hot water. Leave them in the water for about 4-5 mins. Take them out of the water and let them cool off for around 30 seconds. Snap the molds onto the earphones, then attach the ear-tips. Shape the molds to the unique shape of your ears then take on the world with earphones that stay in and stay comfortable.
