Based on the CBR1000RR SP2 that was shown last year at Milan, the race-based bike is stripped of all road-based legalities (so, no lights or anything needed away from the track) and gets a host of different parts. There’s nothing about this bike that is a concession to riding on anything other than the track – so far there’s no UK price for the bike (our information is coming from Japanese sources) but the price attached to the info from the factory that should appear on April 20 says that the bike will cost 1,782,000 yen. Converted into UK pounds that’s £12,751. In the documentation that we’ve seen from Honda Japan the factory says that there will be 40 bikes made and that they will be made-to-order.

The bike gets several bits different to its road-going cousins including a bigger radiator and oil cooler, different intake and exhaust valves, a new cylinder head with newly-designed pistons and combustion chamber and lightweight bodywork.

The bike’s exhaust loses the catalytic converter and exhaust valve to make it freer-flowing, the fuel tank is changed to a complete steel item, the front brakes are Tokico calipers and the front and rear suspension is SHOWA. The bike doesn’t have ABS and the wheels are swapped for lightweight ENKEI options.
