It’s just been announced that the Qatar round of the World Superbike Championship has been postponed.

Travel restrictions to Qatar are being enforced as a result of the global coronavirus outbreak – and the latest victim is the second round of the WSB Championship. It’d been set to take place in Doha from 13-15 March – but it won’t go ahead.
The restrictions primarily affect passengers from Italy, who’ve either travelled directly from the country or who’ve been in Italy in the past two weeks. On arrival in Qatar they will be taken directly to quarantine for a minimum of 14 days. And with Italian nationals playing such a vital role in WSB, both on track and off, the decision’s been taken to simply postpone the Qatar round for now.
There’s been no talk about when it’ll be rescheduled – and we don’t expect that to change, with coronavirus continuing to spread across the globe. Further updates will be published in due course.
The news isn’t a massive surprise, particularly following MotoGP’s cancellation of this weekend’s opening round of the season in Qatar (and the second round in Thailand).
