LAUNCH RIDE: First impressions Suzuki V-Strom 1050

We’ve spent the morning getting acquainted with Suzuki’s updated adventure bike. The conditions have been a bit sketchy, so we haven’t had a proper chance to push its limits – but we’ve still found plenty to like about it.

The motor is largely unchanged and it’s as lovely as ever. The newly added quickshifter is great. The Tokico brakes and adjustable KYB suspension are spot on. The new electronics package worked well to help the bike deal with some tough conditions, alongside the Bridgestone Battlax A41 tyres. Not bad at all.

OK, so it might not be the most exciting adventure bike on the market – but the V-Strom has more than enough going for it to make it well worth a look.

This afternoon we’re out on the more off-road oriented DE, tackling a few trails and seeing how the newly created machine handles in the real world. We’ll bring you an update as soon as we step off it later today.
