Indian Motorcycle has just announced its redesigned Chieftain line-up – and for 2019, the Chieftain, Chieftain Dark Horse and Chieftain Limited are set to receive a range of updates to help make the bikes better than ever before.

First off, the Chieftain range will receive restyled fairing and saddlebags, with sharper lines and harder edges. It’s trimmed and slimmed fairing will be paired with new fork guards, while its new, slammed saddlebags with colour-matched fender closeouts help to enhance its custom-inspired look. That’s not all – there’s a new Rogue gunfighter seat gives, new badging on the tank and saddlebags, and the iconic Indian headdress on the front fender.

It’s not all about styling though. The new Chieftains will also receive three Ride Modes – Tour, Standard or Sport. The throttle map for each Ride Mode was designed with a specific application in mind, resulting in one bike with three distinct personalities. Plus, all 2019 Chieftains will also come equipped with Rear Cylinder Deactivation for increased rider comfort when the bike is stationary.

Several improvements have also been made to Indian’s stock audio system too, significantly improving sound quality. In fact, Indian reckons it’s the best audio system it has ever made. As a result of a clever bit of kit which allows the equaliser to automatically adjust each frequency to the optimal level to compensate for road, wind and engine noise. Indian claim the result is crystal-clear, 100-watts of premium audio at all speeds.

Reid Wilson, Senior Director for Indian Motorcycle said: “As we continue to evolve the Indian Motorcycle brand, we want to expand our line-up with more aggressive style options, while still maintaining the availability of our more classic style options. What’s most important to us is developing motorcycles that meet a wide variety of customer style preferences, and Chieftain’s new look does just that.”
