With the rolling out of Ultra Low Emissions Zones across the UK and a continued push towards electrification, BMW’s battery-powered naked bike could be perfectly placed to tempt the next generation to take to two-wheels. Though they’ll need deep pockets to get their hands on one, thanks to its £7450 price tag.

It’s a fairly versatile bit of kit that’s suitable for those on either AM or A1 licences, with its air-cooled lithium-ion battery capable of providing 5.4bhp or 14.8bhp of power to the motor. And there’s 40.6lb-ft of torque to play with to help it make swift progress off the line.

The full power model weighs in at 132kg, has an easy-to-manage seat height of 750mm, and a set of agility-focused 14-inch wheels – while suspension is looked after by some 37mm upside down forks up front and a mono shock at the rear. And when plugged into the wall, the full power version will take just over 5 hours to charge (though there’s also a fast charger option available which cuts the time down to 3.5 hours).

As you’d expect, there’s also a raft of rider aids – including a smartphone-compatible 3.5in TFT dash, ‘Flow’ and ‘Surf’ riding modes (with an additional ‘Flash’ mode available as an extra), a USB-C socket and keyless ignition.
