It’s been confirmed that Bradley Smith will be racing for Aprilia at the Spanish and Andalucian Grand Prix, replacing the currently suspended Andrea Iannone.
The British rider will be racing alongside Aleix Espargaro as parts of Aprilia Racing Team Gresini. The news doesn’t come as a big surprise, with rumours swirling about test rider Smith stepping up ever since Iannone received his suspension.
Smith and Espargaro are at the Misano World Circuit for three days of private testing getting back to grips with the new Aprilia RS-GP race bike ahead of MotoGP kicking off in Jerez in a few weeks’ time.
At the minute, there’s been no news on who’ll be Espargaro’s teammate for the rest of 2020/2021 season. The Aprilia Racing team is currently awaiting a final verdict on Andrea Iannone, who recently signed a new two-year deal with the Italian factory.
