Ladies involved in motorcycling is on the rise and at MoreBikes we’re very happy to see this. We’ve caught up with some of our female fans to find out more about them. First up is Joanna MacKintosh!
What do you ride?
I have ridden my Can- Am Spyder RT Ltd for six years – done over 33,500 miles on it from new. I am now in the process of buying a 2021 version; it’s just come out of its crate and will be with me shortly.
How did you get into bikes?
My husband got back into bikes after a 35-year break; he was a ‘mod’ with a Lambretta then and bought a Suzuki Bergman in 2000. This was the first time I had ever been on a bike and I rode pillion on that until he swapped it
for a Honda Goldwing 1500 and then on several 1800s. About 10 years ago the current Wing went for a service and we were loaned a Spyder for the day. I had a go and was hooked and so just before my 60th birthday I got my own ride. Luckily for me you can ride these on a car licence.
Where do you like to ride?
Absolutely anywhere! We’re lucky enough to live in North Wales with Snowdonia National Park relatively close by; we spend many a happy day riding there. I run most of my errands on it rather than taking the car, and when visiting our son in California Xmas 2019 I rented one over there and enjoyed riding the Pacific Coast Highway.
