Gear reviews and tests are very important when searching for new motorcycle clothing. There’s no better review than a ‘real world’ review – reviews from real motorcyclists talking about the motorcycle gear they wear day in, day out. Here’s Zoe Young to tell us about her Richa ‘Libra’ 3 in 1 Motorcycle Jacket:
Leather or textiles? The standard question when buying kit. Of course, I want to be protected but practically I want to be snug as a bug with a heated blanket hugging me for winter months. Equally, I want to look cool. Or at least think I look cool.
Now as a female with larger breasts, trying to fit into motorcycle gear is a bit of a recurring problem. Leathers are unforgiving and completely shapeless when I must buy bigger sizes to accommodate. Textiles… I might as well be a sack of potatoes.
Enter the Richa Libra 3 in 1 retailing at £119.99 from Mega Motorcycle Store, Swindon.
Is it leather or textiles? Is it fair weather or cooler climate hardy? With this jacket you don’t need to pick because who likes making decisions anyway?
Panels of leather are held together with the stretch of textiles to create a fitted jacket with the flex needed to ride and be comfortable. The leather outer arm, sides and back give you the confidence you need when riding but also aesthetically tick the right boxes. The textile material surrounding the zip means those with a bust can still get a well-fitting jacket!
The jacket comes with a detachable thermal lining and a separate waterproof lining too which I have tested out extensively in the Brecon Beacons and can vouch for its efficacy. The rest of me was sodden, but my t-shirt – bone dry.
It has a couple of pockets on the torso outer although I admit given the fit, they give you an unsightly bulge and frustratingly bunch up when you sit on the bike. There is also an additional zipped pocket on the inner of the jacket perfect for cash/cards or when I need to mic up to record footage.
Overall, this is a perfect all rounder Motorcycle Jacket combining practicality with style whilst being affordable and able to endure four season riding.
