HONDA: New CBF125 for 2026

Many of us will have learned our two-wheeled skills on a 125cc Honda learner bike – Alan Dowds’ first road bike back in 1989 was a proper Japanese CG125. Great days. So, this new Honda will likely have a big impact in the real world of learner schools, student commuters, and Just Eat delivery riders.

It’s the CBF125 – a basic commuting roadster that’s essentially a modern CG125 – powered by a super-efficient, four-stroke, 2-valve SOHC air-cooled 124cc single-cylinder motor in a no-frills street chassis.

But for the 2026 model year, Honda has added some genuinely impressive tech. It now comes with a full-colour LCD TFT dashboard with Bluetooth phone connectivity for navigation, calls, and media. There’s also a USB-C charging socket and LED lights all round.

And to push fuel economy and emissions even lower, Honda’s fitted a brand-new stop-start system that shuts off the engine when the bike is stationary. It’s a first for a manual transmission Honda bike and uses a special AC starter/generator for fast, reliable restarts. For those not keen on such features, don’t worry – you can turn it off.

There’s no word on pricing or exact availability just yet, but you can expect it to be competitively priced for the spec when it does land.
