Motorcycle giants join forces to create swappable battery system

The four motorcycle giants have signed an agreement to create a standardised swappable battery system.

The thought is that the availability of a swappable battery system would help to promote the use of electric motorcycles (and light electric vehicles) – while contributing to more sustainable life cycle management of batteries.

That’s not all – with an aim of extending range, shortening charging time and lowering infrastructure costs, the four manufacturers are making big steps to try and quell potential customers concerns about the viability of electric vehicles.

It won’t be long before work gets underway either, with the Consortium set to start its joint activities this May.

That does mean we’ll probably be waiting a little while before we actually see any kind of finished article, but there’s no doubt it’s a big step towards our increasingly likely electric future.
